SCAVENGER HUNT

The Goal is to spend day on the water, have fun, and learn something new about Newport Harbor.

One Boat equals one entry.  Boats will follow written clues to sites of historical and general interest within Newport Harbor.

The winner will be determined by finding all the clues and completing closest to predicted time by rally organizer.  The clues will lead you to particular landmarks in the harbor.  You will take a photo with your smart phone and email it to the Duffy Boat Master.

EXAMPLE OF CLUE:  This engineering marvel was constructed in 1893 as the main attraction for Chicago World’s Fair with the intention of being bigger then the Eiffle Tower built for the 1889 Paris World’s Fair.  Its little brother was built in Newport Harbor in 1936.  A popular 1986 movie takes its name from this attraction.  A quote from the movie states, “Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” 

Items Needed

An electric boat (beg, borrow, rent or steal).  A fun crew. A smart phone with a camera and ability to email.  Some food and beverage.

Show Time

1:00pm (1300) assemble near guest dock at ALYC aboard your boat.  Boats will be hailed to dock one at a time to receive an instruction packet with clues.  Complete the challenging hunt following the clues.  Return your boats to their respective docks.

5:00pm (1700) meet back at American Legion patio for announcement of winners and awarding of prizes.
