Dear Dive Team Members,
It is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of the International Women's Dive Day group dive. We have carefully considered the forecasted weather conditions and the safety of our team, ultimately deciding to prioritize everyone's well-being by canceling the event.
Today's conditions have proven unfavorable, and Saturday's forecast remains equally poor. With waves reaching 2.5 feet at 14-second intervals and a surge energy rating of 189, the ocean presents unsafe conditions for experienced divers and significant risks for beginners or less experienced divers. Ideal conditions would have a surge energy of 100 or less. Additionally, visibility has been reported at a mere 5 feet.
In lieu of a celebratory dive, we invite you to join us for lunch at the post at 11:00 am. We will gather for a group photo on the Post 291 beach to be submitted to PADI, commemorating our collective spirit and love for diving. If you plan to attend the lunch, please RSVP via email to DiveChair@alyc.com so that we can provide an accurate estimate to the kitchen.
We apologize for this last-minute decision, but safety remains paramount in our planning for local beach dives. We appreciate your understanding and hope you recognize our concern for your safety and enjoyment. We encourage you to join us for lunch, help us plan another event in the near future, and celebrate the incredible women divers among us.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
Isaac Carreon
Dive Chair, ALYC
